Preview of Laurenandkris'sblog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Siem Reap, Cambodia Entry Title: "Holiday in Cambodia" Entry: "Having taken it easy, maybe too easy, in Thailand, it was time to pick up our bags and do some real travelling time again. It was a difficult decision to make, staying in a perfect place with lovely people. I think the 'soon-to-expire' visa helped make our minds up, that and the fact that our minds were becoming slack without the daily challenges that travelling brings. Itchy travllers feet had also made an appearence so off we went. It seemed from all accounts that the easiest way to cross the border into Cambodia would be with one of those air-con bus packages that seemed to be advertised everywhere in the small fishing port of Trat, Thailand. Any other method would have been near impossible, as the whole community prospers from the selling of these tickets. When this happens you will soon find that local taxi and bus drivers become markedly unhelpful when you ask them to take you to the border. Sometimes its just best to go with the flow. We were supposed to be taken to a crossing at Poi-Pet on the Cambodian border. Unfortunately we were taken to some absolute nowhere's-ville and fleeced by the local tourist-office/border-guard syndicate. They had it fixed so that the border guards would not take our money for the visa ...

Cambodia Cheap Travel "Motodops" buses and taxis cheap flights

travel in recent years, Cambodia has a lot less stressful than in recent years reduced with the continuous improvement of the roads buses taxis and "Motodops" (to moto's) are running at higher speeds and they are not the body was shaking, teeth rattling Odysseys more for the most part. The main exceptions would be the route from Poipet to Angkor Wat will be voted worst road in the world for over ten years and the road to Sihanoukville from Thailand Trat on Bangkok. Withmore tourism, the double-digit growth has been in many years, flights and routes in Cambodia have, the more potential passengers who have an increased while the competition altogether, which has the consequence, in some of the cheapest flights to Cambodia.

Cambodia buses, both the mini-bus and the big commercial buses are always to be on a higher quality, and new bus companies are forcing companies to improve their older equipment to compete. Taxis asas how the Western tourist demand for better quality are improved, you can be fairly sure of getting a taxi, a minimum standard that is much improved from the old days met. I remember one time they had met the safety belt and secured them behind the molding of the door frame, making it completely useless, this type of change was not uncommon, nor was it unusual for victims of a terrible headache in a Mini bus by sucking on exhaust fumes for hours on end from the open rearDoor.

"Moto's" complicate still more the tourists, especially for the constant rip-offs and now there are a lot of "took tooks" These guys are just as bad as the "Touk Touk" driver in Bangkok and if you are using can avoid one you are that much happier on your travels.

In Cambodia Cheap flights are now common and there are more flights, both within Cambodia flight to neighboring countries, Thailand and Vietnam and Singapore, which serves as aregional hub for flights to the discount.

As always remember in Cambodia, alert, if you do wrong, if seems, often there is trust your intuition and to travel the smart thing.
