Surviving Long-Haul Flights - 7 Secrets

If you ever had a long-haul flight - lasting anywhere 4 to 17 hours or more - the prospect of another in the near future a probably not very appealing. If your upcoming long-haul flight is a first, take heart in the fact that millions of people who have gone before you, even if they are mentally, emotionally and physically drained in the process.

The good news is that some of the seasoned travelers have learned with us, to actually make this> Flights bearable. While a long-haul flight is almost never a picnic, give the seven secrets I share with you below you the tools to make the most of your flight. I learned these secrets in my business and personal travel in over 30 countries around the world.

Secret # 1: Book an aisle seat: book an aisle seat is a stroke of master planning, which is often considered only by the most experienced long-distance travelers. Of course, the child in you is the lackPlace at the window to see the little cars that look like ants when you land and start. But resist, my friendly advice, the temptation to book anything but a seat at the track. Reason: precious, precious space. Anytime you board an airplane, you are limited in view of the strong default personal space. But, it will move by booking a place on the floor, at least on one side of the body free to gesture, swivel, and otherwise freely in the cabin.

Secret # 2: Unpack your own headphones:There are three good reasons to pack your own headphones for your trip. First, the airline issued headphones are very limited sound quality. Second, the headphones do not often fit in very well in my case, always something to ear pain after only ten minutes. Finally, with the airline issued pair set recycling headphones in their ears already used by total strangers, I need to say more?

Secret # 3: Drinking before, up to a liter of water 10 minutesYou on board: It's pretty common knowledge that people dehydrated on long flights, so my suggestion to drink water is probably not a surprise. But wait, if you until you drink on board, the first chance you get fluids after you are in the air for an hour or more. Thus, before the flight hydration key. I suggest drinking as much water as you think you can hold comfortably for over an hour. By drinking it 10 minutes before you board, you do not need to useToilet only after entering what is often not comfortable in any case.

Secret # 4: Bring three forms of entertainment: Long flights are a challenge for the mind at least as much as they are for the body. So, to trick your brain by himself busy. Popular diversions are: portable DVD players, portable music player, fiction or non-fiction books, a new magazine, a pack of gum, a sudoku book, a crossword puzzle and travel or phrase poundsthat you prepare for your destination.

Secret # 5: Unpack your own snack: This is self-explanatory, but remember that important and often. I enjoy light snacks that crumbly, there is nothing better to exit the plane to visit relatives or business partners during physical cracker crumbs on your shirt or chocolate smeared look at the trousers are to get (yes, it can happen, to you, too). I suggest, cereals, candies, crackers not Bready, and thelike.

Secret # 6: Take every opportunity to get up and move around: Use any excuse you can think of to get up frequently during the flight and walk: go to the bathroom, get up to a flight attendant ask a glass of water, or just make a reason. On most airlines you can here the very back of the plane and perpendicular to the opposite aisle, so effectively you can arrange in a full round or two before annoying too many of your colleaguesPassengers.

Secret # 7: Bring a diary: Write in a journal gives you the opportunity to actually take advantage of your long-haul flight. Here you will find taking a potentially life-changing holiday, is an important business trip or family to see where you are not looking for a long time: why not allow the benefits of the new perspective gained by accessing a source of creative ideas to your personal life or business? Under your diary on yourLong-haul flight can not only help pass the time: you could end up with a few new perspectives on your life by the time you land.
