My Online Life As a Student

I don't even watch TV anymore. I know that that's a little strange, given the one hundred and one channels on TV and my love of the boob tube, but I just said it: No TV. Not anymore, since my life has gone all online (sounds geeky, I know). The Internet is where I watch, write, read, shop, and shop for online discounts. It's where I do most of what I do, to be more precise about it.

All of us live in the so-called digital age; as for me - well, do I ever. Because of the constantly evolving IT landscape, privacy and connection to me are not mutually exclusive at all. I am not attached to my computer at all, but Google, YouTube, Amazon, Wikipedia, photo streams, social networking sites, virtual shopping carts and free shipping offers - I find that all of it is absolute genius. I've got to admit that. Of course, using the Internet, I am also able to learn about places, events, people, arts, and culture - without having to leave my chair.

I also keep an online public journal. Yes, folks. A blog. Which I regularly update with musings, photos, chronicles of my life as a student, the latest finds and online discounts from my shopping adventures on the Internet. And which generates a lot of interest and comments from young people like me. It's like sharing our personal stories and adventures with each other, all while defying physical distance and bridging the gap.

I use an Apple Macbook Air to update my blog, but of course I can't help but snoop around other blogs to see what other people are thinking, saying, watching, and buying. Meanwhile, I also upload the pictures I have taken with both my Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T50 and my Kodak Easy Share. (These cameras are really handy because they fit anywhere.) You see, I like to offer people a glimpse of what goes on in my life - the academic, the simple, the artistic, the behind-the-scenes, the behind-the-aisles, the virtual and online, the authentic. The real me in a virtual world.

My laptop also has plenty of other uses other than blogging. Or searching for online discounts. It is, after all, important for me to stay connected with family and friends. And technology has made my life convenient in this regard. I have a built-in webcam on my laptop and I go on Skype to do audio-video chat with families, classmates, relatives, and other friends here and abroad.

I am a delighted consumer of technology's neat new tools alright. My laptop is always with me in class, and I use it to take notes with ease and get down everything that my teacher is saying. I also use the Internet to research on materials for my essays, book reports, and other projects.

As a carefree, rolling stone kind of person, I also conduct other kinds of research online: cheap hotels and plane tickets, guides to essay-writing, online discounts for popular brands and products. I go online just to see what's going on out there. Whether I am at home or in school, well - I am always connected.

International Student Flights Made Easy

If it were not for student discounts, I'm not sure if I've ever been to school. Cheap international students, in particular multi-stop or round the world tickets can be an incredible experience for a young person to go over the world. In addition to flying, there are many discounts for concerts, sporting events, cinemas and restaurants. I want to show you some ways to make guests really cheap student travelDiscounts.

But before you even think that the search engines for flight, restart the laptop and ask for a Student Identification Card International (ISIC). They run on less than fifty dollars and you can easily store up to ten times that amount. As a personal example, I was able to get first place for "Les Miserables" in London for less than twenty dollars. This is not a typo. I visited many museums in Europe and Australia, less than half the period of general admission. Chalkas a gift for the young: an ISIC card is only good until you're 26

Okay, you've got your ISIC card. Let us now speak of low cost flights. An important thing to consider is how long you must travel. In general, the costs for each day, has far more to reduce. My advice is to stretch your travel in a gap year trip around the world. They were, how cheap you may be surprised, especially with discounts for students. Test, focus on botha region like South-East Asia and South America, or if you have a little 'more time and money, buy the Holy Grail of cheap international travel: a round the world ticket.

If you are interested in the world of business, there are two places that help you decide what is best for you. Airtreks.com specialize in flights worldwide, and can often be ten different destinations for less than three thousand dollars to fly. Also here is notTypo. The second agency is to contact STA Travel: through it I landed eight travel destinations around the world for $ 1500 (that cost for a round-trip airfare from San Francisco to Sydney, anyway).

Once you have a general idea of the path, you must take, consult with a hammer to their logistics of travel specialists. A travel agent should help in planning for visas (you should demand that these people) and make recommendationshow to stretch your budget.

Follow these steps and you are ridiculously cheap international student organization for safe flights.

Online Bookings Make Air Travel Cheaper And More Comfortable

The air traveler never had it so good. With hundreds of low-cost and full service airlines flying to the remotest locations of the world, and offering air fares lower than train fares, air travel is now everyone's cup of tea.

As a popular TV commercial for an airline depicts, people are actually taking a return flight to the nearest metro city for a shopping trip or for an appointment with a high-flying hair stylist! Gone are the days when a plane trip would be a style statement for the selected few. With the penetration of high speed internet in small towns and cities and with airlines offering cheap web fares, more and more people are preferring to give their travel agent a miss, and booking their tickets online. There are now several websites offering online ticket bookings for all domestic and international airlines under one roof.

Online booking has several advantages over traditional paper ticket bookings:

Cheaper Airfares: Airlines are looking to sell all vacant seats and they offer surprisingly cheap airfares on the internet. It is much cheaper for airlines to announce these fares online or via email rather than advertise them in the media. So people who book online always get the best deals and offers that are never advertised in the TV or print media. Last minute offers that are only available online can mean a huge saving on your travel bill and help airlines fill vacant seats. Airlines also offer cheaper airfares for seats that are booked months in advance, as they want to ensure long term booking commitments. Most of the time you can get the same plane seat for almost 50% less price online, if you book a month in advance.

Wider Choice of Flights: When you book a flight ticket online, you get a wider choice of flights for a particular sector. You can see whether the airline is a full service or a low-cost airline. You can compare the type of aircraft, the time taken by the flight and whether it is non-stop or a hopping flight. Thus, you can make a better informed and cost-effective decision. Travel agents will typically try to sell you tickets on an airline that gives them higher commissions. But when you book online, you choose the airline and aircraft of your choice.

Safe and Secure Bookings: With the advent of SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer), your online credit card transactions are completely safe. All online travel booking websites offer 128 bit SSL encryption when asking for personal data, like your name, address and credit card number. Whenever you are providing this information online, make sure that the website address has changed from http:// to https://. The additional 's' stands for 'secure' and means that the connection from your computer to the booking website's server is a secure connection. Also make sure that you see a padlock icon in the lower right corner of your browser. All data sent over such a secure connection is encrypted and can only be read by the party that it was meant for. Even if someone hacks into the connection, he will see only garbage data. The chances of someone stealing your credit card information online are the same as someone stealing your credit card slips when you shop at a store. Now with almost every bank offering credit cards to its customers, online air ticket bookings have increased manifold. Online booking websites like Expedia.com, Yatra.com, MakeMyTrip.com and FlightGuru.in are booking more than a million air tickets everyday!

Choose your seat and Web Check-in: When you book a plane ticket online, you can see a seat map for your aircraft and choose your seat online. So now you can have your favorite window seat or aisle seat or choose a seat near the exit that gives you extra legroom. Most online booking websites also offer a web check-in facility. If you are traveling with just cabin baggage and do not have any check-in baggage, you can web check-in for your flight up to 48 hours in advance and print your boarding pass on your home or office printer. So you just walk up to security check and board your flight. No more standing in long check-in queues at the airport!
